Charlotte's "I Love" File

These images are from Charlotte's "I Love" file. Charlotte is an Absolutely Beautiful Things reader from Sweden who wrote to me a few weeks ago telling me about her file of things she has been collecting for the construction of her "dream house". She was very kind to send me a disc of her file which I now have the pleasure of viewing and what a wonderful collection of images she has.

Charlotte is an Industrial Designer and a lecturer at a Swedish university. In a recent email she sent me she talked about her appreciation of good design and her inability to label her taste (something I think a lot of us have trouble doing) . She said to me that she isn't really a fan of Contemporary Interiors - in her thoughts they lack personality and comfort. Charlotte also (like me) loves to buy old, inexpensive things which she hunts around for and then restores herself. This is her way of adding her own personality to her home.

In her email Charlotte also proclaimed that the reason why she started to collect these images was so that she would be prepared when she builds her dream house. She has witnessed allot of her friends making bad decisions when renovating their own homes - something she puts down to their lack of thought about what they really like. She said that these unprepared renovators were then driven by current trends which she feels will be out of date very soon. Her mission is to have a home which is more sustainable. This is certainly a very sensible goal Charlotte!!

Thank you Charlotte for sharing these images with me and the rest of ABT's readers and also for sharing your thoughts and ideas about your style and the creation of a dream home. I do hope you find your dream home!!

I would love to hear from more of you out there so please send me some images of things you like and maybe your own design ethos. I would love to do "Reader "I love" File" as a monthly feature on ABT.

Wonderful rooms, all, but my favorite is the LR setting with the toile cushions, round walnut cocktail table with a beach shell on display. Love the background art, reflection of the cabinet glass. It's feels very comfortable to me.

I just wanted to thank-you Anna for inspiring me so much! We are in the middle of a reno and I was feeling a bit down in the dumps- your blog site inspires me every day and now I am getting very excited about our reno. A month or so ago I bought 2 of your beautiful cushions with my favourite Manuel Canovas fabrics and I can't wait to put them in my daughter's room (yes she is spoilt). Thanks again!!! Anna D
