Good Old Blue & White

I have posted this bedroom before but I thought I would post it again today as I still love it and it reminded me that blue and white can look so beautiful in a bedroom.  I also love the black iron bed and the mix of furniture styles in this room.   {image - country living magazine}

Here are a couple of new blue and white fabrics which hit our fabric library this week.  I'm sure the die hard blue and white fans will be excited to know that we have had a very big influx of beautiful blue and white fabrics over the last few months into our library.

PS.  It seems that the fresh flower post I wrote yesterday has created a bit of stir amongst readers from areas where it is hard to grow and buy fresh flowers/produce.  I am very lucky to live in a sub-tropical climate where flowers/foliage/fruit & vegetables are accessible and easy to grow.  I apologise if I have offended anybody with my post.  That certainly wasn't my intention.  I was purely stating my own personal preference and in my haste I didn't consider the circumstances of readers in remote/barren areas.

After studying floristry, I too am quite anti fake flowers, and get surprised when so many people quite accept them... I guess we are so fortunate to have them so readily available. Beautiful blue and whites I might add!

Blue and white are so restful. Love that bedroom. I'm looking for a new bedcover and I love those two fabric swatches. Just bought some espadrilles in the blue/white ticking fabric like on the bed in the photo. Check them out on my blog today.

Lovely... I too love adding black to a classic blue & white combo. It makes the blue 'pop', don't you think?

Love it..so soothing to the mind body and soul. I love when a little black is thrown in too. Something about it makes you feel very much at peace.

As a dedicated blue & white follower, i think these fabrics are great. I think its the white background that carries the magic of the contrast.

I love it. My bedroom looks sort of like this. I have the wrought iron bed and wrought iron nightstand. But this bedroom is so much more cozy looking.

I love blue and white. I recently painted my living room a steel gray blue and I love it!

Regarding yesterday's (suprisingly divisive) post about real vs fresh flowers, a friend showed me a trick years ago, which I think may be helpful. When I buy fresh flowers they are usually oriental lillies. I got myself some good quality fake ones and I mix these into the fresh lillies to 'beef up' the look of the vase. Also, buying flowers from the supermarket or god forbid, the florist, is financially crippling, but buying them direct from the grower at farmer's markets is cheap as chips!

I simply adore blue and white and just can't get enough of it ... in my recent move I vowed I would try and branch out into something else but I can't help myself when it comes to metres and metres of ticking. Can't wait to see this library of fabric in July xx

That bedroom looks so relaxing and inviting right now, Anna! I love the fresh feel of blue and white, but those patterns just lift the scheme and give it some 'jazz'!

Fake flowers are the worst - you should not apologize for not liking them. Of the 2 blue fabrics, who is the top one by? I adore it!

I love blue and white--my daughter and I have a luncheon every spring, and those are out colors of choice this year. As far as flowers--it is easy to take the things you have available for granted. I live in southeastern Texas and can find all manner of wildflowers in the spring, pine cones in the fall and winter, fresh seafood because of my proximity to the Gulf coast--but I don't have any sleds in my garage, I've never (in my life) had a white Christmas, and neither of my children have ever gotten to build a snowman. It just depends on where you live. You have a lovely blog--I have enjoyed viewing it for the past few years. It always brightens my day.

Blue definitely seems to be the hot color this season, particularly cobalt- easy to see why! The contrast with white really is pretty. I'm dying to add something blue to my bedroom but can't decide if I want to go with something simple like pillows or something bigger like this chest- http://www.belleescape.com/blue-paisley-coastal-shell-chest-shabby-chic.html

Obviously a piece of furniture would be a bigger investment than linens, but my current setup is so plain I think it's due for a drastic change.. Still, the room you posted is pretty simple, but eye-catching.. I can't decide!
