That's a Great Idea

The scanned quality of this image is so terrible I know but if you look really closely it has a great idea shown...they have used large mismatched door knobs as coat hooks - I love that idea! I also love the mix of that modern vibrant rug with the soft grey and white floral wallpaper.

i was just reading through this articale today on the train, in a different magazine, Inside Out.

I love that rug with the Florence Broadhurst pattern. I also loved that orange chair in the same article.

That is a great idea - good reason to hunt for some vintage door knobs!

I've been hoarding, uhm, collecting vintage doorknobs for years...always wanted to make a coat hook thing out of them...but don't really get how to attach them to anything!

Still I'm pretty pleased with my bag'o'knobs...

And I, too, love the juxtaposition of the bold mod rug with the elegant romantic wallpaper...

I too like that idea. Highly unconventional yet highly delightful!

That is a great idea!

Dagny- I bet they just used a shorter screw on the back of the knob and just screwed it into the wall? Probably predrilled the hole first. (this is one of the reasons why I married an engineer, so I can bring him these fabulous ideas and he can figure out how to execute them). :-)

So cool! We actually have done this and it was my husband's idea. We found out you can attach them to the wall with what's called a dummy plate but we couldn't find dummy plates for anything cheaper than like $8-$10 each and it's just a simple screw like thing. So we found double ended screws at the hardware store and we glued one end of the screw in the doorknob with epoxy and the knobs work fabulous! We hang our preschooler's bookbags and our jackets and my heavy diaperbag on them.

Yeah great idea. It'd work well in the bathroom or even at the front door too. Annie
