Little Happy Things

It may sound funny to you but these tiny little boxes which I bought in the South of France last year make me happy. They sit in a small cluster on my coffee table at home and each night I sit and I look at them and the pretty colours they throw. I think it is really interesting to think about the small things in our homes which make us happy on a day-to-day basis. What little things in your home make you happy?

my home is full of color and the warmth of hand-made walls and floors...what makes me happy is that and flowers, little bouquets tucked here and there, a rose bud on my night table....next to my bath tub...the smell of soup bubbling that MY HUSBAND made! :)

New glass candleholders, black and white photos on the wall taken by a friend, and family pictures (the un-posed ones!)

Your boxes make me happy, too! They remind me of Morocco. I agree that little things (like my favorite books, our super-soft microfiber throw & flea market finds) truly makes a house a home.

Your little boxes are dear. I think it's often those small things that bring us simple joys.
My heart-shaped rocks are special to me along with my collection of small, older books that have beautiful covers. So many little things that we don't often think about. Thank you for sparking my thoughts.

I stare at all the books I've read and collected through the years. I never give away my books (I do lend).
I also have glass fishing balls my aunt collected in Hawaii, I try and imagine the journey they had.

Love the little boxes, Anna. Are they pill boxes? I picked up a few silver ones in Florence many moons ago and I love them. (I wish I'd bought more.)

Err, my coffee machine brings my mornings pleasure! And I light up a gorgeous candle or two at dusk (earlier in winter!). Always gives me a happy glow.

I can see how these gorgeous little brightly jewelled boxes can bring daily happiness! My happiness comes from...pictures and keepsakes made by my son, the candles on my dining table lit for the evening meal, having flowers in the house, my celadon hued mohair rug. Simple pleasures bring so much joy.

they are very lovely boxes! small things are seen up close and are more intimate somehow... distilled beauty.

I get immense pleasure from my vintage button collection. I love sorting them and arranging them in special old boxes...

Oh Anna, I love those. If I had them, I'd be staring at them all day myself. And the fact that they are from France makes it even better.

I have a little Moroccan box on my bed-side table I got at the Flea Market for a quarter. It's bright colors are subtly worn and scratched, but I love it!

I bought 4 small milk glass cups at the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market for $1 this fall. They sit in various places throughout my apartment holding jewelry, coins, bobby pins, etc. Maybe it was the great find, or their simple beauty, but they always make me happy.

Those little trinkets remind me of the make up from B Never 2 Bust to be beautiful, the sister company of Lush. Their eyeshadows come in lovely boxes like that!

I like candles, old tea cups and trinkets on my dressing table.

My fireplace makes me happy! I love the beautiful distressed pine wooden surround, I love the glow that the fire itself sends around the room and I love what it represents - sitting down with family at the end of the day when all the chores are done!

Hi I just came across your blog and saw the little boxs. I love little trinket boxes. You don't need to use them for anything, they are just so damn cute.

I love those little boxes. I have here a wedding favor keepsake that I always keep in my side table in my room. It always reminds me of my best friend who got married last month.
