I am often so tempted to pull-over the car and whip out the pair of scissors I keep in my glove box and cut flowers from bushes on the roadside. Today I did just that. I was driving over to pick up Harry from sailing and I saw these big bright beautiful pink flowers on a huge bush on the side of the road. I did a u-turn, stopped and cut a few. They have very prickly stems so I had to use the paper bag in the door pocket which was left-over from Harry's sausage roll this morning to handle them. Although they have dropped a little bit since arriving home, I do think they look pretty in the aqua vase I put them in on our fireplace mantel. It's amazing what beauty you can discover without even spending a cent.

They're just beautiful. We have a rather large residents herb garden here, that seems to be only used by me so I am enjoying filling vases with a variety of fresh herbs daily. Since the rain, everything is growing wild. I bet your garden is thriving! A-M xx

I love beautiful flowers in a simple vase. This is my favorite type of flower arrangement even though I am a florist.

Here on the other side of the planet my husband is sailing, delivering our 1903 gaff rig sailboat to Maine to slumber for our cold winter months. I was also snipping flowers today while he was at sea...chopping down all the plants in my cutting border to put my garden to bed until spring. Thanks for the taste of summer.

Except I have secateurs in the glove box - better for cutting little branches from trees.
I figure I'm providing a community service.
Everybody knows it's healthy for plants to be regularly pruned!
