More Progress @ Black and Spiro...

There was lots more progress at the shop by the end of last week as above. I'm looking forward to all the final bits and pieces arriving this week.

A Busy Week...

It's been so crazy in my little world these last couple of weeks - I have been trying to get the new display into the shop and at the same time I've been working to get my house ready for two things - putting it on the market to sell and a photo shoot for Real Living magazine. Real Living magazine is coming up to take photos of both my home and my shop in about a week's time which I am very excited about but with trying to look after my clients, my family, running Black & Spiro and getting home and the shop ready for this shoot, life has been very hectic so I do apologise for the lack of posts this week!! I thought I would show you some photos of my progress at home. My dear friend Sally came over this week to help me get things a little more organised which was fantastic. Sally is a whizz at organisation!! Hope you all have a great weekend and I look forward to hearing from you all next week and I promise I'll get my act into gear with some more exciting new posts!!!

Black and Spiro Today

An old vintage bamboo look iron chair above is part of a set of 4 chairs and a table which I found in my travels - it takes pride of place in my new display.

I found an old embroidered Willow design linen tablecloth which I had made into some new cushions (above) with a Ralph Lauren blue and white stripe on the back - they are already sold!!

The new look at Black & Spiro is progressing everyday. Some new bits and pieces above - still waiting on a few more pieces to finish it all off. Once it's all done I'll post lots of pictures of the finished look!!

Later this year I will be celebrating my 30th Birthday - scary - where did all those years go??!! I have finally decided on the location and type of party I will be having which will be a weekend long Birthday celebration with 28 of my closest friends at Peppers Spicers Peak Lodge. Peppers is located in the country - approximately 2 hours from where I live in Brisbane. I am planning a special lunch on the Saturday which will be held outside on the grass just in front of the lodge with a long table with custom made tablecloth and napkins, beautiful chairs and dinner plates and lots and lots of beautiful flowers. I thought I would share with you some of the images I have been starting to collect which will eventually inspire me to create my special birthday lunch.

The start of our new look appeared in the shop today with new blue and white willow patterned wallpaper behind our front desk which was hung over the weekend (click on the photo to see a closer perspective of the wallpaper). It's so lovely to have a fresh new look and I just can't wait for the rest of our new things to be finished.

For fantastic old pieces of furniture and bits and pieces Sydney store Major & Tom is a treasure trove for the collector at heart. Used by many Australian stylists the store boasts a beautiful array of rustic pieces only sourced from within Australia. Major & Tom also custom makes beautiful pieces of furniture and is often commissioned by architects and designers to make pieces such as kitchen counters, bookcases, sideboards and tables.

I just love these giclee prints of interior guache paintings by Annechovie available for purchase on Etsy. I would love this talented artist to paint one of my interiors!!! Mmm, maybe I should send her a few photos!!

Today I Love...

These images above are so fresh and pretty. I really love the thought of that fireplace at the moment considering we are having some very cold weather here in Brisbane this week and the bottom image for some reason (I think it's those tropical cushions) reminds me of Hawaii - one of my favourite places in the world!

Relaxed Beach Style - Part 3

With such a big response to my relaxed beach style posts this week I decided to do one more. I too am a huge fan of relaxed beach style. There's just something I love about a relaxed beach house with collections of mismatched furniture and things all thrown together - I think it's the feeling of simplicity and comfort and being in a space which hasn't been over decorated.

This is my type of beach house!! New pictures on Nate Berkus' website. This room is my favourite!! I love the old zinc top table and those lamps are to die for!!

Beach House Glamour

I just adore these images from House & Garden. To me, they exude whimsical beach style glamour. I could imagine staying in a beautiful hotel by the beach just like this. This house is actually located in Florida and was designed by William Diamond and Anthony Baratta. The entrance to the house above reminds me of old changing rooms at the beach. Just so beautifully fresh and don't you just LOVE the Italian Pagoda Tulipieres on the custom designed trellis credenza in the top image!!
