Getting Sorted

Today I wish I did this...

Instead I started this...

Anyone who knows me is completely aware of the fact that I can be quite disorganised and very forgetful.  I blame it on too much to do and not enough hours to get everything done when really there is no excuse.  So, I have made a promise to myself over the holidays and that is...I AM GOING TO GET MYSELF ORGANISED!  I headed out today and found this great book {at Kikki-K} and a few other essentials which are going to help me.  After watching the news tonight, I think I am safest here at home getting myself sorted and away from all the horrible things this relentless rain is doing to our State.

Good luck, one show used the word "surface abuser" so I am working on that - cleaning cluttery surfaces and having a spot for them. I think we all have so much to be thankful for. Hope the rain stops and all that flooding.

The rain and flooding have really upset me. My focus has turned to Domestic Minutiae too- so soothing, so comforting, so within our CONTROL. Unlike this dire and devastating weather. I'm going to help Amber colour coordinate her books on the w/e. Can't wait x

I feel your pain. 2 weeks ago I was walking on the beach, today I'm walking the dog in freezing temps with snow promised. Makes the next beach trip that much sweeter. Happy organizing.

It's always refreshing to start the new year with a clean out and a bit of a tidy up. Hope the book helps :)

Anna, When you manage that can you swing by and give me some pointers!! Trying to be organised is my new years resolution, but things just keep getting in the way...here's hoping for me and wishing you good luck.

This is the bane of my existence as well - especially the paper problem. I have earmarked this year as the time to change all that - it's not a resolution mind you (those guarantee failure), just an initiative!

Good luck!

I can not function unless things are perfectly organized. If everything does not have a neat and easily accessible place it ends up in a pile which only causes more stress.

One huge tip that has helped me through many many an organization project is containers, containers, containers.

I rarely spend the time to make fancy shmancy labels or color code my sweaters, but have little baskets containing like items saves me so much time and effort.

The $1 store ALWAYS has tons of baskets, boxes and buckets. They are not the most elegant things [I used them in closets and cabinets where they are not always visible] but they work perfectly for most projects.

I'm right with you. Decided to first start with a long overdue makeover in my home, that always helps to clear things out!

I just got back from a tour with a group of people from Australia. They were heartbroken about all the goings on. I am praying for all the people and animals suffering.

I had a very similar Sunday; I spent the entire day cleaning and organizing my room, when I could have gone hiking with the dog. I feel better now though knowing everything is in its place!

Hi Anna,
I know you are busy organizing, but I was just thinking of you when finishing this post, about a destination store in Palm Beach Florida. Come check it out, I think you will like it....

Hello Anna, as an Aussie now living on the Greek Islands, I love reading your blog and seeing all your crisp beautiful photo's. I am also generally in a state of organised chaos, so your book recommendation is a definite for me! My heart also goes out to QLD. Looking forward to your next post!

I spent all weekend trying to get myself organised. It was only a somewhat fruitful effort. I have a feeling it's going to be an ongoing project!

The beginning of the year is when I like to get organized too. It helps you not only organize your home, but realize your priorities and goals you want to accomplish for the year.

I had to Smile when I read the Post and saw the Book... I can SO relate... a professional organizer could spend half a lifetime and an entire career trying to get me better organized! *LOL* Much luck in your venture... I'd be inclined to take the ride on the Beach! *wink*

This made me laugh! I spent Sunday doing exactly the same thing, trying to create some order in my room where I create my jewellery - which also triples as computer room and husbands dressing room....Good luck! My heart goes out to all those affected in QLD as well.

If we did not have 6 inches of snow in NC, I would be out buying this book...needing to do some purging in my home!!

It's great containers work for Silvana but they must be used with great caution! Rampant containerisation does not equal organisation. I explain my views fully on pages 10-12 of my book, SORTED! the ultimate guide to organising your life - once and for all.

I am running a competition at my blog http://blog.sorted.net.au/2011/01/12/win-win-win/

if one of ABT's readers win - I will throw in a signed copy of my book too! Tell everyone!

Oh Anna! Hugs! I love a person who admits to that kind of genetic disorder. I too am similarly indisposed with an inherited condition of complete disorganisation but rail against it. Just catching up with a few of your posts. As FF always suggests, comfort comes during these absolutely harrowing times in the minutia of every-day life.
