Fleeing the Floods

Brisbane residents have been fleeing their homes today and the levels are supposed to rise even further...it is incomprehensible.  Look there's the popular keep calm poster in the canoe.  It couldn't be more appropriate.  My brother has been helping sandbag properties all day.   We ave friends whose houses and businesses are underwater.  My cousin's fiance just emailed me a picture of Black & Spiro and it is absolutely fine {we are on a hill thank goodness} and there was even a lady windowshopping!  Crazy!!!

Stay safe.

xx

Dear Anna,

We wish you and your family and friends all the best in this difficult situation. We have "similar" situation here in Venice every now and then as our city is under water many times during the winter season and it is worst and worst every time. Although not comparable to what is happening there. Hope all this will be over very soon!
Our warmest thoughts!

Dear Anna!

Years ago, Australia for me was only a beautiful but far away country. My husband always wanted to visit it but my answer was always the some " It's to far!" Now. and especially thanks to you, Brisbane, New Farm, Straddie, etc, are no logger unfamiliar places, they became part of my virtual world. So, I feel that this tremendous tragedy is happening next door. I wish that everything quickly come to an end.
There is something that I can't get off my mind, you clients in Toowoomba, I hope that that are OK.
From the other side of the world I send you my love.

xoxo

That picture is almost surreal. I am sorry but glad to hear you are safe. The weather worldwide is going a bit nuts, here in NY we sit in ANOTHER 16 inches of snow on to of the snow the blizzard dumped a week ago...I don't remember such an extreme winter. Anyway, hope this soon subsides and please stay safe.

We are having crazy weather here in Birmingham, Alabama too. Our winters are normally mild, but on Sunday we had an ice/snow storm and it completely shut down the city. Kids have been home all week from school. While our situation is inconvenient, it does not compare the devastation of a flood. Hope you and yours stay dry. Mandi.

Wow Anna, I just can't believe the devastation in Brisbane! the poster in this picture is fabulous and 'absolutely' sums up the Aussie Spirit!

My husband and I are suppose to be relocating to Brisbane next week from Indonesia. We have been looking forward to sunshine, walking along the river, new farm park picnics, movies at moonlight, New Farm Deli, and all of those wonderful sorts of things ....

Oh well I guess I will have to wait and see what the next few days brings! May the coming hours and days be safe and dry for you, your family and friends. Thinking of you, cheers Jennifer

Hello Anna,

My heart goes out to all of you greatly affected by the continuing floods and the resulting loss of life (and property).

I did a post 'A moment of silence...' today on my site for those who have lost their lives resulting from the flood waters, and on the Haitian earthquake anniversary.

I hope you all pull through safely. Do not lose sight of the power of faith.

Best regards,

Anna, you very unsympathetic. I know what you are going through. We in June 2010, also had a carriage. I cried as I saw houses flooded to the roof. In 2010 Poland had two such floods. This is terrible. Every day I look at your blog and look for information. Anna careful. Catherine: (
