From The {Old} Files

Whilst visiting Mum and Dad on Saturday night for a lovely home-cooked dinner, my mother handed me a pile of old magazine tear sheets she recently found in the cupboard of my old bedroom. They must date back to my early twenties. I pulled a couple out to show you as above. Isn't the last one interesting - I obviously loved blue, white and pink way back then and in actual fact, I think I might have pulled this one out of my mother's files originally!! I remember the top image as one from a story on Donna Karan...I remember obsessing over that table vignette for a long time...

such fun to look back, isn't it? how do we pinpoint when our tastes change...?

There's such inspiration in these pics. Isn't it fun to see how, with a couple of tweaks, these rooms could be just as current today as the were when they were originally taken. What's old is new again!
I'm going to go pull out some of my old magazines and see if I can get some new ideas. Thanks for sharing!

Its often fun to see how much our tastes change and yet reassuring to see how much they stay the same! Thanks for sharing this!

Fun post. I think these pictures all feel like you, despite their dates. Isn't it amazing how little our style and taste change. I still love the same rooms and images I did as a child and teen. Even though I fall in love with trends, they are always within my aesthetic realm. As a matter of fact, when decorating my own house I often ask myself, "Would I have loved or at least appreciated it at 17?" I know it sounds crazy, but it puts a lot of 'maybes' to rest.

Tears in my eyes..
I miss my family so much and wish I could just pop over and hang out.
They are in Sweden. I am here in Australia.
The distance hurts!

Sounds like you had a lovely time and I am so glad for you. Don't take it for granted. x
