I can't be credited for finding this fabulous image. Joni posted this over at Cote de Texas the other day and I immediately fell in love with it. It is the work of the famous garden designing couple - Isabel and Julian Bannerman at their own home or should I say estate - Hanham Court. {All of this info was provided by Joni!!}.
I have a few of these old galvanised tubs which would do the trick. Although, tulips won't grow too well here. I'll have to plant them with something like Lavender I suppose. Any other ideas? I also love the wisteria growing so wildly over the house in the background.

Stunning picture of the flowers, will definitely make my day. Keep posting. Iflorist.co.uk
Those tulips are glorious! If I had one of those old tubs, I'd be tempted to try some lovely flowering grasses.
Angelonia? Such a trooper in the heat!
I adore the Wisteria growing all over the house also....gorgeous xx
I am a huge fan of wildly growing Wisteria...think it makes a garden/home look established and romantic! I may have to try this galvanized tub with tulips!
Snapdragons can look pretty en masse- I'm not sure if they're your style but they are often found in rambling english cottage style gardens.
I have two tubs ... one planted with chives, flowering garlic and tri-colored sage. The other is a still-life with a few random plantings and a collection of seashells. I will post them on my blog soon!
Are those black tulips? They are my current flower obsession...
What a fabulous post! I was overwhelmed by the gardens as were you and probably everyone who saw this.
As usual, Joni did an amazing research job on this and I love her comments! The mantle mumble was the best.
Really a treat.
Me too, fell in love with Joni's post about this garden.
Smiled at this pic, a copy of a garden idea at Sissinghurst. Love their reincarnation.
You'll have to post your reincarnation of tulip inspiration.

I think this is a heavy lead tub which would help to keep the bulbs cold. I love to see tulips, pale pink and green-white growing out of a cloud of forget-me-nots which flower at the same time. To help them repeat every year, without lifting them each time which is such a bore, plant deep up to 9 inches deep, and when the foliage has died down plant annuals on top.
Kind regards Matthew.
How about planting your galvinised tubs with colourful Ruby Chard? It's an old heirloom vegetable that waves its cheery red stalks around in a burst of impossible colour. If you plant a mixture, you will have stalks of yellow, ruby red and lime green - a stunning combination. Also, it doubles up as a yummy vegie - good in salad, stir-fry or curry - which kids love because it is delicate.
The Galvernised tub is gorgeous. Does anyone know where I can purchase one in Brisbane? I am planning a food garden and that would be a stunning centre piece.
Anything would be beautiful growing in those tubs!

I love the use of the tub!! Such a great idea and such a beautiful image. Whoever found it - great image and thank you for sharing!
Wow - you are all so clever! Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions. Marisa, have you tried Woolloongabba Antique Centre as I saw a couple there a few weeks ago or even Paddington Antique Centre? I also use mine when we have parties as they are great filled with ice and drinks.

Hi Anna
I think agapanthus (sp?) would look great as they have height, colour and foliage - and not too much upkeep.
eek!! just turned in to see what you were up to and found THIS! thank you girl!!!!!!!!!! hope you are doing great and keeping warm. we are dying of heat over here!
Joni
I fell in love with tulips later in life than I suppose most have but this tulip tub may have helped spawn that love had I not already felt it.
OH!!!! This is SO up my alley. So clever!!! xo Elizabeth
