What a lovely welcome we've had from the neighbours in our new street!! After the container arriving on the front foot path last week, I wasn't sure we would be the most popular people in the street however, I was wrong. Over the weekend we found a lovely card in our mail box from the neighbours next door and to my huge excitement this morning, Joy from over the road arrived at our front door with a humongous bag of fresh limes which she had just picked from her lime tree. I immediately pulled out one of the baskets we will be selling in the new shop, threw the limes in it and placed it on our dining table. What a nice feeling it is to be living in such a lovely, quiet street with kind people all around us!!

How very Wysteria Lane of your neighbours to drop off cards and limes. I'm impressed! Sounds like a lovely neighbourhood :)
Plenty of G & T's to put those limes to good use Anna?? :) Basket is gorgeous and glad you have been welcomed by such lovely neighbours.

I know how you feel. When we arrived at our new place late last year, we had neighbours bring little gifts and many just popped over to introduce themselves. One gift was a plastic covered little purse made from old newspapers that had been found when they pulled up the lino. The lady had many of them made up by lissy may and she said she knew we'd appreciate it as we obviously loved old things (she could tell that by looking at the house!!). It certainly warms the heart!
Sounds like a lovely street. The limes look lovely in that bowl:)
it makes such a difference having good people around you. whaty a lovely welcome!
Its really nice of your neighbours because we seldom want to "intrude" or appear pushy that we just dont make the effort at all.
A friendly neighbourhood certainly adds a sense of feeling settled somewhere. Maybe that's why I am still wanting to move away after 2 years here:-/
The limes look great in that basket, very eye-catching.

Ok I'm thinking cocktails are the way forward here with maybe some lime frangipane tartlets.
Lucky you with nice neighbours. My lovely neighbour's house has just been sold. Fingers and toes it's to someone nice.

What a sweet, classy little welcome gift. They look lovely in the new basket. I so appreciate people who live with kindness demonstrated in these little gestures. Being isolated a bit at this time in life I draw breath at the warmth and beauty found in your blog. Thank you so much Anna.
What a lovely present! Don't they just look stunning in your basket!
That is really lovely Anna, I am so glad you are being made to feel so welcome! Yummy limes, look and taste good, you can't beat that can you?
Flick :)
How lovely to have a neighborly neighborhood. You don't hear of that very often, it sounds as if this is a great move for your family, Kathysue
I think you can get away with a lot of things. That is what happens to giving people :) Good luck with all the preparations for the re-opening of the shop!
This cheers me that there are still thoughtful folks to welcome, tired, overworked new neighbors. Three cheers! Glad you were the happy recipient, Anna. Welcome to your new neighbohood.
Fondly,
Glenda
Oh my goodness -- a bag of fresh picked limes? What a delight, and the dining room is lovely!!

What a great gesture and that basket full of limes is a piece of decoration on it's own.XX
What sweet neighbors! What will you make with all the limes??? I have visions of margaritas, and lime dessert dishes dancing in my head. YUM!
Favorite use of limes... lime juice, cucumber, cilantro, red onion, tomatoes, avacado, catsup, and fat shrimp in a big goblet. The best shrimp cocktail you have ever had! Shiree'
