Historically Inaccurate

Beautiful fabric is obviously a passion of mine. Mostly I love patterned linens. I also love embroidered/crewel fabrics. So when I stumbled across Richard's work over at Historically Inaccurate I was beside myself...two of my favourite things joined together in one fabric...embroidery and patterned linen.

Richard embroiders his designs onto Toile fabrics in brightly coloured cottons. I absolutely adore his work which gives fresh appeal to a fabric with roots dating back to the mid 1700's.

This might just be the perfect choice for a small vintage chair I have at home which desperately needs recovering.

that is very cool. kind of reminds me of those old black and white or sepia photos that artists color in.

wonderful!! I too have this odd love for fabric, i am of the rule you cant have too much. Where most designers vow to two or three fabrics per room, i'm sinful at
5-7,
in my own home that is. Oh well something has to make us happy.

How much fun! I met Richard this weekend at the American Crafts Council Show in Baltimore. I wrote a little piece about him and some of the other very talented crafts-people that I met!

i stumbled upon his work some time ago and literally gasped when i saw it... it's amazingly fantastic! i'm in the process of deciding how to recover a chair, and i might have to try my own hand at this...
