I picked up the latest House Beautiful just before I left New York earlier this week. It's such a great issue and full of pink inspiration which was lovely. It seems pink is the new black although it's always been my favourite colour. I don't really like it when something I love becomes a trend...it's kind of annoying in a way.
I particularly loved this room which was decorated by Ellen O'Neil. The divine sofas have been slip covered using vintage faded red and white striped fabric. It's such a great lived-in looking room. I could move right in.
Now that everyone else is into pink, Anna, embrace the orange. You know you want to.
ReplyDeleteI picked up this issue too, inspired by the pink....also my favourite color. Your home was in Canadian House and Home and I keep that issue as inspiration for my own home. Just the right amount of pink.
ReplyDeleteI posted on this issue too! I adore pink!!
ReplyDeleteI felt this way about the turquoise trend last year. It has long been my favorite color and now I see it every where!
ReplyDeleteme too - what a lovely demurely pink room!
ReplyDeleteI immediately stopped dressing like Madonna (we're talking early '80s) when everyone else started. I understand how you feel about the pink thing. :-)
ReplyDeletevery sweet and cozy.

Anna- for what it's worth, when I saw this month's issue of House Beautiful and there was NOT a spread of your house or work, I was shocked. In my book no one does pink better than you! Hope you're recovering from the flood okay.

I loved this particular house as well. The reds are wonderful and I love how she deliberately used the faded fabrics. It has such charm.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about being annoyed when something you love becomes a trend. There is a sort of smugness I feel, like "Well I have been doing that, or loving that, or whatever, for years!" Oh well......everything comes around at some time or another.I guess that is why I am passionate about people living with what they love, trend or not!
pink and red is my favourite colour combination. Am thinking of injecting some colour into our living room with pink curtains.....
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read my new issue...love the cover!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like pink is sticking around..love the traditional wing back chair in a funky pink fabric....a cute new take on an oldie.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain on the trend. We always love the things you come up with.

I adore pink interiors!! Pink is all over the blogs and mags, but will that translate to many interiors? Most people don't have the nerve!
