Pine Cones

Whilst driving Harry to school this morning I spotted a few pine cones on the side of the road in a little spot along the way. I know pine cones are much more of a winter Christmas thing but I think I might stop in the morning and collect a few as I love the idea of mixing them with a few lovely baubles in a big bowl just like this image above!

  4. Aren't pinecones one of nature's little jewels? I never cease to marvel at their earthy geometry. Mixed with a little sparkle, they will look fantastic! Such an interesting juxtaposition.

  5. We always had pine cones under our Christmas Tree, very authentic!! Then one year my sister sprayed them silver, that wasn't quite so hot but looked pretty cool. Love Posie

  15. I collect pinecones every year. I love them in the vignette you created and I love them in a really regal interior for an unexpected twist. One time I pulled off the road to collect lichen. Haven't used that yet.

  19. I did that this week too. Mine are sitting mixed in with our shells at the moment. I might string them into a mantle garland with pine boughs for Christmas.

  20. I have pine cones (various sizes collected from my woods) in a crystal bowl with ribbon, and also some on a large pewter tray with autumn leaves and candles. . .it's a lovely and inexpensive decoration.
