Colour Photos

I recently showed this image to one of my clients who is wanting to create a wall of family photographs. I told her that I thought it would be lovely to go for colour photos instead of black and white. I think that RL's wall above is so gorgeous and I just love seeing the colour come through in the images instead of the monochromatic look of black and white.

  1. I like how the colours are all from a limited palette- they seem to be mostly grey, blue & white which works really well with his interior.

Nice post Anna! I had never given that much thought to a large group of colour photos until now.

  2. I agree with you, black and white are lovely but colour almost brings them to life.

  7. Yes, I guess it is a nice change. I still think the uniform frames would look nicer... Just my own opinion... Have a great day. ;-)

  8. I'm so glad I found your blog! I love your aesthetic! I do love these color photos! I love black and white, but color done well is so lovely and interesting! I drool over wall groupings like this all the time...

  9. I must say that I am very fond of black/white photo feature walls, but this one may have won me over to the more colourful side of life.

Looks gorgeous and I love the 'blue/aqua theme' coming through. Very nice indeed!

  11. Now that you mention it....yes, the color photos are fantastic. And a nice departure from the more expected black and white.

    Ralph always does it right!!!

  12. I think if you can coordinate all the photos to be of the same colour combo that would work perfectly, especially if there is a colour them in the room they are going in....Great idea....boy its hard to hang the prints at all the right levels but thats what hubbys do best.

  13. Love the coloured photos in the frames; RL has chosen his pics well, with blues in the pics and decor.

  14. They DO look good in colour - but they can also look fab in black and white. This is a great way to create a story, rather than just treating the family photos as individual elements, which lose their appeal except to the family in the photo!

  15. This is a great image and so Ralph Lauren. I would love to know what issue of Elle Decor it came from? Thanks.

  16. It does look great. I like the idea of the frames being closer together and of different sizes, making it a bit more relaxed than obviously planned.

  17. These look great! I also love a little color in the matting instead of the photo. I did it with nautical charts and it came out great.
