Mariska Meijers

Today I am inspired by the artwork and words of Mariska Meijers. I have posted some of her lovely paintings and images of her creative space above.

In her own words...

"I collect, tower and pile stuff. I just can't help it. My house is like an over sized mood board. I hardly have room to manoeuvre. I admire people with empty houses and just can't figure out how they do it. I need my stuff, it inspires me, it is part of my life..."

I'm with you Mariska, all the way!!

  1. Good morning and this is such a colourful post. Mariska is a new name to me, although very, very similar to mine. So this is a combination of Marisa and Marika :)But I had never ever heard it before. Thank you for bringing us this new person and her creativity. I tend to agree with Mariska - bare places are boring. I can never understand where people living in bare places manage to put the things of their life.

  17. I love this art, thank you for sharing! I agree with Mariska as well, my things are my inspiration. Not out of materialism, but because for me they document my life. Whether it's a piece of art that my father made or whether I make it, collect it from my travels all over the world, or scavenge through various garage sales, thrift shops, antique shops and Goodwill's to find something precious! I have come to set apart the frivolous (mostly new objects) from my prized objects.

I have done many pencil drawings of my spaces, I should scan and post one day as well. Check out my blog if you have a moment: InspireBohemia.blogspot.com

Thanks again for sharing, I enjoy viewing your blog!

  24. How true, I would love to live pure scandinavian style with just washes of white & neutrals and the barest essentials but I love displays, vignettes and collections too much! The details in her artwork certainly reflect her colourful surroundings. Beautiful!
