Vintage Beach Photos

I love these vintage Hawaiian beach images which have been hung in the staircase of the Moana Hotel in Hawaii. They remind me of the staircase Windsor Smith filled with framed black and white photos as below.

  12. I'm the interior designer who worked on the Moana Surfrider when it was re-branded to a Westin a last year. I'm glad you appreciate the vintage photographs. The hotel first opened in 1901, so while trying to transform the hotel in the modern amenities of Westin, we really tried to maintain the timeless elegance and sense of place of this beautiful historic hotel. It was by far my favorite project to work on in my years of hospitality design.

Are you familiar with the famous Hawaiian surfer, Duke Kahanamoku? From the breathe of your knowledge you probably do. You can find some beautiful black & white photos of him and other surfers on ebay. Check it out.

Is the Moana the beautiful, grand, old hotel in Waikiki? I wished I could have spent a night there, it was stunning. Thanks for reminding me of it, happy Hawaii memories!
