A New Favourite Room

To be greeted this morning with an email from my friend Courtney Barnes with this image attached of a room in Windsor Smith's house was truly exciting. I think I have a new favourite room. Windsor's house is featured in the just released September '09' issue of House Beautiful. I am busting to get my hands on a copy. I seem to be drawn to Windsor Smith's aesthetic time and time again. I could move right into this room tomorrow and not change a thing.

  1. Anna, I knew you would love it! That sofa is covered with a Moroccan beadspread and the chevron chair is vintage Indian fabric :)

  2. Wow! This is beautiful! I think that the pink walls are especially refreshing and gorgeous- they are not too "girly" or "fru fru". They add a splash of color and with the white accents it just looks gorgeous.

  4. It is a great room- drawn to the chair. Would you call that chevron print (even on a chair?)

  5. I have been a fan of Windsor for a while and like almost everything I have seen of hers - I always wished I could get my hands on more photos of her rooms. I even got an email from her once after I wrote a post about her a long time ago! Can't wait for my HB to arrive!! I just lover her aesthetic...

P.S. I am going to listen to your Skirted Roundtable session tonight!

  6. Just got my issue in the mail today - it's one of their recent bests. In Windsor's house there's even a pic of an electric blue ping pong table in a black room. She designed it for her teenage sons.

  10. It's a wonderful feeling to find that particular aesthetic you are more drawn to. I recently had the same 'ah, that's it!' realisation of what styles and design I enjoy the most.

  22. It is lovely. The perfect shade of pink. I'm seeing a lot of pink in main areas lately. I love it. Of course I'd have to get rid of my hubby and sons to be able to pull it off around here. How do you think deer mounts would look on this wonderful pink wall????

  37. Hi Anna,I just came across your blog and thought we think on the same page. I love pink rooms.Pink is calming,(they use it in prison to calm the inmates down)romantic, warm and inviting. What woman (or man) doesn't look good in pink! I own a store and design business in Canada and have been trying to start a color revolution banning grey and beige from northern homes.I have been named the empress of color! Check out my website at www.jane halldesign.com I think you will enjoy it. Lots of colored rooms to see.
