Before & After

Sideboard After

Sideboard Before

I recently came across this lovely old Puerto Rican sideboard which I purchased for Black & Spiro. The girls and I decided to have it painted in a very soft mint green colour. We just had the piece delivered into the store on Friday. We placed it in our front window display with lots of pretty old jugs and vases filled with fresh flowers on it. I was so excited as one of my lovely clients came in to see me on Friday afternoon to go over a few things for her new kitchen and she instantly fell in love with our new piece. It is going into her new kitchen and she plans to fill it up with her collection of old mismatched china. I think it will be so perfect along with her pale pink retro Smeg fridge!!

PS. Sorry about the terrible photos however, it's really hard to get a good photo through the front glass windows of the shop...

  3. It's beautiful and simply overflowing with charm! What a lucky lady to have it in her kitchen!

I tried to read a post about the striped pink sofa but for some reason it wouldn't come up. Did you do a post on that?
Your new profile pic looks great and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you on The Skirted Table. So fun to put a voice with a face.

  4. I am enjoying your blog...you have such a good eye for colorful displays. I have a question, how do you decorate someone elses place with color when they are truly not into it. I mean, they like it at someone elses home or maybe they see it in shop, but color seems to frighten them. I have a real hard time understanding this. Can you relate?

  7. Hi Anna - lovely sideboard and I think it will be amazing filled with mismatched china as your client intends!

Just an fyi for taking pictures through glass - I have found that if have an "aquarium" setting on your digital camera, there isn't as much reflection in the picture.

  10. What a gorgeous piece in its new color! I must admit, I probably would not have looked too hard at it in its "before" state, but the color really brings out the drawers, the shelves and doors.

  12. I am loving this! I have been thinking about painting a Scottish hand carved sideboard I have. I always feel a bit sad to paint beautiful wood...but I just know once it's done I'd love it all the more. How does Peacock Blue sound...or Magenta? I need a little color in my life!
