A Beautiful Tulle Skirt

Last week when we were re-arranging the shop Melanie spotted this girl who works in the shop next door to our shop wearing this fabulous tulle skirt. As Melanie is getting married next year we had to stop her and ask her the details. She told us it was the skirt from her wedding dress which was a vintage 1950's dress. We were in awe of this beautiful skirt and asked if we could take a photo so that we could swoon over it. When we were looking back at the photos we noticed she had paired the skirt with a silhouette t-shirt. How gorgeous is that!! I just had to share this beautiful outfit with you!!

  1. This is sooo cute, Having worked in the bridal industry for the last seven years I have been waiting for the day the retro glamour of the full tule skirt came back into fashion. Our current collection at BiBowden Brides contains a couple of beautiful gowns using Silky Tule which is so soft and delicate. The colours are gorgeous too.Jenny G @ crepemyrtal

  2. So gorgeous! My friend designed her wedding dress that was three pieces, a top and two skirts. A big beautiful flowing one for the Church service and a soft blue shorter one so she could dance at the reception. I love that she can wear it again.

  4. Love it! I've always loved big tulle skirts & thought I'd wear one for my wedding/blessing on the beach a few years ago but found this absolutely amazing hot pink Indian Sari and underskirt. I was able to just buy the skirt which turned out to have been from a bridal outfit & it was just so divine, all heavily beaded along the bottom with gold beads. I just wore it with a simple fitted knit in hot pink too - well, it is Byron Bay! ;)

  9. What is it about tulle skirts? Is it the sound, the feeling? If I hadn't been married on horseback, I would have worn one for my wedding.I love it with the T-shirt...just right!

I love how she combined this very formal fabric with a
    stylish informal tee. Inspired!

    Wonderful of you to share.

  11. Beautiful. What wonderful style she has.

Back in 1998 or so, I remember all the lovely magazine editorials of full, ballgown skirts paired with fitted tees or button down shirts. It was one of my favorite trends ever.

  18. I just got married in August and I have nearly the same thing as this picture. I have a large tulle dress and a white silk ribbon, and my top is is just a white H&M T top.

I love it, and poeple love it too, except my mom and grandma think the top is too...casual wear, but I'm a chinese, I expect them to be like "let's add something to to the top" kind of comment.

And the thing about tulle is that it's very easy to carry in luguage, so I took it to Greece with me and took picture with it, the result is just great.

  19. I simply must jump on the tulle bandwagon. ... I found you from a link at Brown Button - where I declared my undying devotion for daily tutus as perfect for tossing on with cowboy boots and big sweaters.

Your blog is lovely -- - I shall return!
