Simply Dramatic

I don't know about you but I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Tori Mellott's new look in her teeny weeny New York apartment and in particular I love her lounge room as above. I just can't stop looking at it in this month's Domino. In one way it's so simple and serene with its almost all natural and white colour palette but the punches of black here and there makes it strong and dramatic. I love the injection of lilac on that monogrammed cushion and I also love the colourful books in the bookcase! Oh, and of course I love that art cluster wall!! It's all divine. I'm in Love!

The wallpaper, the frames and the woman profile. Simply great.

  2. I like how she has taken the picture frames almost all the way up to the ceiling, it really gives a greater illusion of height, doesn't it? Haven't seen that before-lovely

  3. Oh, yes you are so right Hayseed! It does create such an illusion of height hanging the pictures hard up under the cornice!

  5. I love the concept that the smaller the space the more you include - this apartment is a stunning example of that. Her rooms are totally gorgeous.

  19. I adore the wallpaper---it can be hard to find one that doesn't take over the space, but this one really adds without being overwhelming!

So perfect...and such a contrast to her old place, which they featured some years ago.

  22. This room is amazing as there is so much "stuff" in it yet it doens't look overdone. I love it - particularly the convex mirror with the surrounding black framed artwork.

  25. ho dear ! I know that wall by heart... 8 weeks for the order at Zuber wall paper ... and it cost a fortune, I made hand painted on “canvas” in 10 days perfectly cut to size … I’ m so happy with the result .
“grisailles “ are always so chic and classic .

  27. I agree! I love how she wasn't afraid to overwhelm the small space (seriously - did you read those dimensions?) with the dramatic stripes. It must be the tall ceilings and high windows - it works like a dream.
