Recycle - Old Is New Again

I love to recycle old pieces of furniture by recovering them in a gorgeous fabric, re-staining or repainting the legs and even changing some of the detailing like I have on the above chair. I decided to replace the gathered arm detail on this chair with face and piping detail - a little less fussy. Before you buy a new piece of furniture consider updating an old piece as I think it adds a little bit of difference to your home and the best thing of all is that you are bringing life back into an old piece which you may have otherwise disposed of.

  1. I love that fabric! Where is it from? I love to update old pieces. ReVamp & ReNew is my motto. I'll be in Brissy in early June and plan on stopping by Black & Spiro.

  10. I've been focusing on this in the past few months. The problem is finding the perfect piece of fabric that suits the furniture and the rest of the room. I am still on that search.

  12. Hi, Anna!

My name is Larissa. I am a 28 years old brasilian girl that also loves interior design as you.
I algo have a blog, called Trivial Básico (http://trivial-basico.blogspot.com), in portuguese, where I share my ideas and inspirations with my friends. My second passion is food, so I also write there the things I am doing and learning in my kitchen.

I really loved you blog! I`ve put a link of Absolutely Beautiful on my blog!
I would like to have your permission to take some fotos to publish on Trivial Básico.
Of course I will always include you blog adress in case of posting a picture.
I know that many people use your pictures without permission, but I know it is a crime and, of couse, I prefer to be an etic person.
Sorry for my terrible english! I`ve been studying for a long time, but I still have problems to write in this language that I love.

I have family in Australia, in Sydney. I would love to travel to your country!
Many people in Brasil go to Brisbany to study and improove their English. Hope some day I can go too!

  16. Hi Anna, Your blog is a feast for the eyes!...simply beautiful! I love how you spotlight photos & quotes that you love from magazines, etc. And like some of the other people who left comments...I LOVE the fabrics you choose! The pattern of the fabric you used on the chair is wonderful, but my favorite is the large hot pink houndstooth check!!!!! Would you mind sharing where you got it? I too am an interior decorator here in the San Diego, California area, so I am totally appreciating all your fabulous entries!!! Looking forward to your next post! Take care.....Heidi
