Seven years ago when my husband and I purchased our first house I had all the timber floors painted white and wow they were so gorgeous! I often wonder if they are still white or whether the new owners stripped them back and polished them. In our new house I have been having a very long debate with my husband about again painting the floors white. I think today I may have finally persuaded him so here's to the white decision and here's some gorgeous white inspiration above to celebrate!!!

  1. love white spaces. these pics are beautiful. i find it is the imperfections that white brings into a room that makes it perfect - it allows the light to dance and makes the space a living canvas.
(always let me know if you need help with convincing husband, they are always the hardest clients wouldnt you agree?!) ;-)

  16. Anna, what paint did you use. I ask because our two dearest friends rented this lovely little cigar maker's cottage in Key West. The floors were white painted (porch paint) and they were an absolute nightmare to keep. Everything marked them. I loved the look, but I cleaned them once while we were staying there and I had to use powdered cleanser, etc.
Maybe porch paint wasn't the ticket. They were great when they were clean!

  17. Anna - so how did it go this week? Are you getting your white floors for sure? I tried to convince my h to paint out floors, but no, no such luck! We need to restain them so badly and the thought of packing up and moving out for a week just stops me in my tracks.

  18. I am new to this blogging thing!
I just love the site "beautiful things". Don't know how I fell into it but I am greatful. I too love a lot of white. It is so refreshing and clean and even with some extra design pieces it seems so clutter free.I have decorated my childrens' bedrooms in the past with soft colors and it seem to keep them very calm when that is exactly what and where you want calm!
White with splashes of colors can be European, country, chic just about any description will cover it. I own an embroidered monogram business. If anyone is intested take a look at www.fazzolariLinens.com
